TEACHING VISUAL ARTS: theoretical and methodological conceptions
Abstract: The theoretical and methodological trends that have defined the visual arts education in Spain are: the logocentric model, focusing on the artistic fact and its products to form specialists; Expressionist model, which places the subject in the center of the training to promote the development of creativity and personality of the individual; the model "filolingüístico" that understand art as a language, and it's centered on narrative power of the image, which holds that art is a language and whose interest is communication. It's currently developing a new trend in which the object of study is the visual culture that understands art as a cultural fact. Its main purpose is to provide students with tools for a critical understanding of visual representations of their social functions and relations of power to which they are linked. This range of possibilities raises the dilemma of what direction to follow in visual arts education in high school. Keywords: Visual arts, education trend, art education, development, visual culture. |
